Are the online sports bets a good business?

 

Online betting is a lucrative business which according to an article published by Javier Trullols (2015) moves about $3 billion dollars. The soccer business sector represents approximately 65% of the entire market, especially the Asian one. According to an analysis made by the online bet company BET365 having success on bets is not easy, most of the players or the parties involved take experts knowledge and recommendations before betting.

 

The most famous bet of the last year was the one of the fighting called the Century Battle between Mayweather and Pacquiao. According to the transactions movements in SkyBet (2015), an online betting company, 18 bets per second were received, becoming one of the most famous events in history. Another company, MGM Resorts, reported in 2015, revenues of approximately $80 million in bets made in the same hotel of the event.

In American countries this type of companies are not as highly developed and consumed as in Europe or Asia, where the most important ones have had presence for years. This could be a strategic sector that could be exploited due to the sports culture consumption that certain regions have.
